Sculpting the Piece

Firstly the piece is crated in clay. Depending on size this will generally require an armature. The larger the piece, the stronger the armature. I had to learn to weld to be able to make them, when I worked as a freelance sculptor. My most recent work has been of a more manageable size. Here you can see a central support that goes up into the body, there is a metal structure attached to the central support. This allows for easy repositioning of the legs etc.
